Magic Slim & the Teardrops
Anything Can Happen
BPCD 5098

Anything can happen and it usually does when it comes to the Magic in Magic Slim and the Teardrops live and in the flesh and captured digitally for all the ages. This is an awesome live album that captures the true spirit and enthusiasm of a Magic Slim show. Eleven tracks of crunchy whole grain goodness from an outstanding group of performers at the tip top of their game. Slim on guitar and vocals. Jon McDonald on guitar and vocals. Vernal Taylor on drums and vocals. Chris Biedron on bass. A tight band if I ever heard one. This is recorded live at Sierra Nevada Brewery in Chico, California. This production is first class and you really get a sense of being there in the room. Why you can almost smell the cigarettes and carrot juice. It is California after all.

Great stuff. Really amazing. Magic Slim is all that and a bag of chips. I'll never forget listening to "Black Tornado" for the first time. By the way, there is a mean version of the "Tornado" tune on this album. While we are here, let's talk about the great cuts on this collection. "Please Don't Dog Me" and "Get Your Business Straight" are two of the most tremendously crowd pleasing tracks on the whole affair. Just the stuff a perfect live album would have on it. "Mind Your Own Business" is another hum dinger of a tune. Magic Slim just makes it glide like silk. He is one of a kind.
