Debbie Davies
All I Found
Telarc CD-83626

Debbie Davies fans - All I Found on the Telarc Blues label is the blues, the whole blues and nothing but the blues, so help me God. And if you're not a Debbie Davies fan already, this may very well be the CD that makes you one.

Political songs are all the rage these days, and Davies opens with one - "Made Right In The USA". Chances are everything you're wearing or driving was made somewhere other than the USA, but your blues, my friend, are manufactured right here, and they can't take that away. A double-edged message for sure.

"One More Time" has Davies about to hit the door, telling her man that she's had enough, but maybe she'll let him rock her one more time before she's gone. "Evidence" carries on the same no nonsense approach. A jealous, insecure partner is accusing her of crimes of passion that haven't been committed - where is the evidence? Only in his mind. "All I Found" will be instantly familiar if you ever, in your quest for love, found only undesirables lurking on every corner. She wants to believe him, did believe him, but finds he has lied and been unfaithful. 'I went looking for a good man, all I found was you'. Amen, sister, Amen!
The all-you-can-eat phenomenon is the theme in "Troughin'." Don't miss the irony here of the "piggy" reference and the title. Enough to make you drive on by the Super Buffet without stopping! "I Won't Be Your Baby Too Long", a swingy shuffle has Davies singing harmony with herself in a serious warning to her mate that 'I told you that I loved you, but there's still time to change my mind'. The spirit of Albert Collins permeates the instrumental "So What". It's got that icy, biting attack Debbie learned from her time with the master of the style.

Four more tracks round out All I Found. All I Found has interesting, solidly written songs, heartfelt vocals and masterful guitar work from a woman who knows herself well. Get to know her too. You'll be happy with what you find.
