Tutu Jones
Live
DB 6809

Lord knows I loves me some Tutu. And, I think if I let that statement stand without a context, most people would look at me funny. Not that they don't anyway, but let me clarify: I love to listen to Tutu Jones. Live is the bomb with this guy. I remember hearing him once out at Fair Park in betwixt them big ugly buildings, his guitar playing soaring out and bouncing off the automobile building and reverberating off the Hall of State. It was like something out of a movie. He was amazing. He always is. The true joy of a live Tutu event is hearing how he tears it up and man, can he tear it up live.

So as you can imagine, my giddy excitement listening to this new Tutu album and discovering it's a live recording. Not to say I don't like listening to Tutu in the studio. But, there is something so amazing and wonderful about his live show. I am very thankful someone got the hint and put this out. It's awesome!

Some fantastic stuff here. Check out the pure genius of Tutu handling the Smokey Robinson tune "My Girl" or his excellent rendition of the Don Nix tune "Goin' Down." This is Tutu at his finest and it's a perfect example of what makes him so special. But don't take my little humble word for it, check out his version of "The Sky is Crying" and then try to catch your breath before you thank me for pointing you to the Tutu.
