Tom Blues Man Hunter
Expressions of a Blues Man
GR2025-2

Port Arthur Texas is blues represented! And what a great way to step up and holler that the Blues is Alright in Port Arthur with this new album from Tom Hunter. 12 tracks of all original blues tunes from a great performer who really knows how to hold your attention. It's very much straight ahead, ripped out of time, punch perfect blues. It sounds seasoned and aged. Like you just dialed it in on the 1969 crystal radio. I love it. Tom Hunter is handling the vocals, songwriting, lead and rhythm guitars and doing a danged fine job of making it look easy.

This is a great CD loaded with good performances and top notch songs. Leroy Scott on drums, Harold Andrus on bass guitar, Paul Boone on harmonica, Bradford Anderson on piano/keyboards and Glen Joseph on saxophone. A great band that really showcases each members strengths. If you are really stressed out and worried about the deep cosmic implications of the Mayan calendar ending in 2011 instead of 2012 as previously understood, and all of time and space converging in on itself as the consciousness of the entire Universe transforms into the glint in the blink of Gods Eye as reality transcends itself into some new and previously undefined unknowable, unthinkable, gelatinous cube of spiritual awareness, this album will take your mind off of all that. Hunter is a great performer with a lot of heart and soul in his music.

Check out a tune like "Hell Hounds" or the wonderful "She's SO Doggone Cool" for a great example of the quality of work here. Another great tune here is "You Ought To Be Ashamed". Hunter has a great turn of a phrase and really makes the most of his band throughout the CD. It's great music: pure and simple. Well worth your attention.
